Posted by Keith Walker on May 09, 2024

Myrtie Cope, Virginia Gilbert, and Amy and George Taylor, members of the Sanctuary Choir, will participate in a combined choir tour in Ireland, May 10-19, 2024. They will be joined by Erin Garrard and Michael Temkin of the Festival Singers of Atlanta.

Director of Music Ministries, Keith Walker, will participate in this tour as one of three conductors and will sing with the choir when not on the podium. Members of the choir of Kirk of Kildaire Presbyterian Church in Cary, NC under the direction of Larry Abernathy, and members of the Washburn Choir of Washburn University in Topeka, KS, under the direction of Lawrence Abernathy will complete the choir for this series of concerts. We will sing for a church service at Abbey Presbyterian Church in Dublin on Sunday, May 12 before embarking on the main part of the tour.

Concerts during the week are scheduled for the Monastic Church at Kylemore Abbey, St. Coleman’s Cathedral in Cork, Cellbridge Christ Church in Dublin, and Christ Church Cathedral in Dublin. The singers/conductors will participate in a workshop with the Anuna Singers, Ireland’s National Choir founded by Michael McGlynn in 1987. There will also be opportunities for sightseeing and fellowship throughout the week.

Keith has asked Raj Das, our staff tenor, to lead the choir for the two Sundays he will be in Ireland.
