Gaudete Sunday | Sanctuary Choir Presents "Joys of Christmas"

Worship All Church

Gaudete is Latin for “rejoice” which is represented by the lighting of the Candle of Joy (Pink) on the Advent Wreath on the third Sunday of Advent.

On Sunday, December 17 during the 11 AM service, the Sanctuary Choir will present Joys of Christmas featuring Seven Joys of Christmas and Magnificat, Warburton E 22. Seven Joys of Christmas is a sequence of carols from England, France, Germany, Japan, and Spain compiled and arranged in 1964 by American composer Kirke Mechem. The Magnificat was composed in 1760 by Johann Christian Bach, son of J. S. Bach. The work is a setting of the Song of Mary from the Gospel of Luke 1:46-55.

Our soloists will be Katherine Kosowski, Shantá Johnson, Raj Das, and Douglas Escobar. The Sanctuary Choir will be joined by our organist Melinda Clark, harpist Nella Rigell, violinists Jennifer Derringer, and Heather Lin; violist Cecilia Trode, cellist Cliff Redwine, and oboists Lara Dahl and Christina Gavin Mark your calendar and plan to join us for this service of music for the seasons of Advent and Christmas.
