A Summer of Hope

Posted by Scott Hovey on June 04, 2026

We started summer in style! Our worship in the Chapel this past Sunday was beautiful. From the hymns to the prayers to the choir’s heavenly anthem, it was glorious worship. I was grateful for the opportunity to present the work that has been part of my life for the better part of the last three years. I pray that this work will be of enduring blessings to our church. And I felt very honored by the presentation of the new robe that marks my degree.

The final choir anthem of the season was spectacular. Please join me in thanking the choir for their dedication and work to present meaningful music each week. And tremendous thanks to Catherine Campbell for her interim time directing the choir!

The rain held off long enough to enjoy a great time of fellowship in the Pavilion. Many thanks to the Hospitality Team for a great meal!

I am also honored that all 10 copies of my thesis were taken. I will have more copies available this Sunday.

We will begin our time in the book of Revelation this Sunday. I encourage you to come with an open mind. Revelation tends to produce strong feelings- some would prefer to avoid it; some are just puzzled by it and some love it a bit too much! I believe that we will find a heartfelt (if not a bit dramatic) wrestling with world events meant to generate hope and confidence. (For those taking notes, we will utilize my CPT reading strategy- communal, plain sense of the text and ‘this is that, then is now'). Join us in worship this Sunday!
