Rested and Ready

Heather and I had a great week away. Thank you to Karen Massey for leading worship while we were gone. Summer is officially in the rear view mirror. I’m grateful to the church for indulging me in our wild Revelation sermon series- really, who preaches 13 weeks in Revelation? But it was
important to me, and from the feedback I’ve received it was meaningful. At some point soon I will compile the sermons into a document for anyone who is interested.

This Sunday we transition back to the Sanctuary. I’m so excited to welcome back our choir and reengage some of our traditional worship elements. One change that you will notice this Sunday is that we will stand for the Assurance of Forgiveness. This will emphasize the critical words that
our sins have been forgiven. We will then share the Peace of Christ with one another.

We will return to the lectionary for our Scripture readings. This Sunday is about forgiveness. When Peter asks how many times we need to forgive, Jesus responds with a math problem: 70 x 7. Some of us find the second time to be the hardest! But there is nothing magic about 490. I think we will see that forgiveness is not an event- it is a lifestyle, one that is marked by events for sure. But forgiveness is more about who we are than what we do.

Join us for worship on Sunday!
