Bible Study

Wednesday Bible Study starts back on August 27
Too often we allow the Gospels to blend- sometimes unintentionally (which Gospel has the story of the Samaritan woman again?) and sometimes more intentionally (trying to discern the ‘real’ story of Jesus.) But there is something powerful in listening to one Gospel all the way through.
Mark is a good place to start for this- it was the first Gospel written (Mark invented the genre called gospel) and it is the shortest Gospel. And it was very influential- both Matthew and Luke quote large sections of Mark- softening his harsh language here and there. But sticking with Mark through the whole story, we can gather some insight into Mark the author- what themes were important to him and the story that he wants his readers to hear.
Our Wednesday Bible Study spent the spring looking at the Gospel of Mark. This fall we will continue this study picking up in chapter 11. We meet at 10:30 AM in the Art and Soul room. We also have an online option through Microsoft Teams. If you would like to join online, talk with Scott or Lydia. An email with a link is sent out each Tuesday. The Wednesday Bible Study will start back on August 27. Don’t worry if you have missed some of the study thus far, because this is a good time to jump in and hear Mark’s story. Join us!
