Exciting Children's Update for March!
We have some exciting news to share! Please read carefully as this information will impact your child/children beginning in March.
Since I have been here, there have been 20 children and youth that have come to church during the Church School time. The ages range from 1 year to 12 years. In the 11:00 AM service, we have additional children and youth in attendance with most being in middle or high school. The Children & Youth Team has produced a plan we would like to try for the months of March, April, and May. This will allow us to create three separate groups so we can structure our time together in a more engaging and age-appropriate way.
Children aged 4 and under will have access to the nursery from 9:30 AM - 12:30 PM. We will begin sharing space with Kiddos which is a wonderful advantage for us. Lara and her team have done an incredible job creating those spaces with such warmth and vibrant colors. We think our children will love being in that area. This means the upstairs nursery area, beginning in March, will no longer be used on Sunday mornings.
From 9:30-10:10 AM, children/youth from kindergarten and up will gather for fellowship, a missions focused lesson/activity, and a snack in the undercroft and youth room.
Children from Kindergarten to 2nd grade will remain in the undercroft from 1010-1025 for a short Bible lesson and then be led to the nursery area (Kiddos space) where parents may pick them up before the service. Following the Time with the Children during the 11am service, they will be dismissed to attend choir with Ms. Mary Lou.
Children/Youth from 3rd grade and up will be dismissed to attend choir with Ms. Mary Lou from 10:10 - 10:50 AM. Following the Time with the Children during the 11:00 AM service, they will be dismissed to engage in a Bible discussion with Ashley in the youth room.
Did you catch the mention of the youth room? Virginia, Barbara, and I all worked together to make this space functional again! David and Nick were the heavy lifters for us to move the unnecessary furniture and we appreciated their help so much.
During communion weeks or other special occasions, we may opt to keep children and youth in the 11am service instead of dismissing them after the Time with the Children. When this happens, we will communicate with you in advance. Of course, you may choose to keep them with you in the service or they may choose for themselves. For all age groups, there will always be two adults present. If you are interested in serving with any of these age groups, please let me know. I would love to serve alongside of you!
If you have any questions or concerns, I invite you to share them with me. I’m hopeful for how this update will stir excitement and foster community for our children and youth!
