June Worship

With Memorial Day, the unofficial start to summer behind us, we are moving into our summer
worship schedule. We will spend the month of June worshipping in the Chapel. There is some
rich theology to explore over the next few weeks.
This Sunday is the final Sunday of Eastertide and we will be celebrating the Ascension. My
sermon will ask the question, "Where is the Resurrected Jesus?"
The following Sunday (June 8) is Pentecost Sunday when we celebrate the coming of the Holy
Spirit upon the gathered believers in Jerusalem.
The next Sunday (June 15) is Father’s Day and Trinity Sunday. I have a two-part sermon for
Pentecost and Trinity Sunday entitled, “The Spirit of Truth.”
Then June 22 will be a special Sunday as we share some of our favorite Chapel Stories in
worship. We will ready ourselves for the transition of the Chapel to a new, multi-use space. While
we will miss the Chapel's traditional rows of pews, we look forward to the new version that will
enable us to spend even more time in this beloved space!
As we prepare for our event with Sarah McCammon on Sunday, September 28, I encourage us
all to learn about her and her work. I will have a few copies of her book, The Exvangelicals,
available on Sunday for $10 each. Tickets for the event will be available soon.
