Homecoming
This Sunday is the final sermon in our Revelation series. Many of you have shared with me how meaningful this series has been. It is indeed timely as we see signs of empire all around us. Sunday’s sermon is entitled, “Homecoming,” as it pulls together all the themes into the greatest theme of all- coming home.
In preparation for this sermon, I want to encourage you to think about the theme of homecoming. What does home mean to you? Where is home? How does home feel? How does it feel when we can’t be home or when home is missing someone? I will make the case on Sunday that coming home is one of the most important messages of the Bible and of our faith. Coming home is a longing placed deep within our spirits. Join us on Sunday for “Homecoming!”
Heather and I are leaving for a relaxing seaside vacation next week. We will leave on Monday, August 31, and return on Sunday, September 6. The Rev. Dr. Karen Massey will preach on Sunday, September 6. This will be our final Sunday in the Chapel. This is Labor Day weekend, so there will be no Church School- only the 11:00 AM service. The service will include Holy Communion.
Lydia will be traveling over Labor Day weekend and will be out of the office on Friday, September 4. Then, of course, the office will be closed on Monday, September 7, in honor of Labor Day.
